Engineering Department Overview

The Engineering Department is dedicated to meeting the needs of all Town departments, boards, committees, and residents of Winchester. A summary of the Engineering Department's role is provided below:

  • Maintains custody of all plans and engineering records for the Town;
  • Assists with the planning, design, and construction oversight of various projects including drainage, traffic, water, sewer, and flood mitigation projects;
  • Conducts plan reviews and field inspections related to private developments falling under the jurisdiction of the Planning Board, Zoning Board of Appeals, and the Conservation Commission;
  • Provides project management services for various capital projects;
  • Administers the Town Center parking permit program for commuters and Town Center employees;
  • Issues addresses for new buildings or those requesting an address change; and
  • Serves on the town's Traffic Advisory Committee.
