UPDATED - AUGUST 31, 2023

HIGH IMPORTANCE
Final Pipe Staging Activity for Cross Street

This notice is to update you regarding the ongoing work on Cross Street to install pipes underneath the Aberjona River. Crews completed the installation of two large diameter segments of pipe. This past Wednesday (8/30/23), crews completed the installation of smaller diameter interior pipes (1/2). Due to conditions in the field, the final installation of smaller diameter interior pipes (2/2) will be completed on Tuesday, September 5, 2023.

On Tuesday, September 5, Eversource crews will be transporting the final set of pipes onto Cross Street and installing these pipes under the Aberjona River via “pipe pullback” during daytime work hours. Once pipe pullback begins, it must continue until completion.

If you live on Cross Street and plan to leave your property throughout the day on Tuesday (Sept. 5) during work hours, please relocate your vehicle to Forest St., Marion St., or Washington St. on Monday night (Sept. 4).

Expect road closures on Tuesday, September 5, during work hours (5:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

On September 5, during the early morning, crews will transport pipe from Davidson Park to Cross Street between Forest St. and Washington St.

During this activity, Cross Street will be CLOSED from Washington St. to Holton St. Police detail officers will maintain local access when possible.

  • Westbound traffic will be detoured back to Cross St. via Washington St., Montvale Ave., Green St., and Holton St.

During this activity, Cross St. from Forest St. to Washington St. will be open to local access only. Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses in the area. All other vehicles will utilize Forest St. as a detour.

  • If you are a property owner with access directly to Cross St. (between Forest St. and Washington St.), you will not be able to cross the road while pipe is staged in the roadway.
  • One lane of travel will be maintained from Forest St. toward Washington St.
