ATTENTION WINCHESTER REGISTERED VOTERS
Annual Town Election is rescheduled to June 20, 2020
A Notice of Cancelation was mailed last week and should now be received by all households. The Select Board voted unanimously to hold the election on Saturday, June 20, 2020 from 12Noon – 8pm. The polling locations will be the standard locations:
Precincts 1 & 2 Muraco School
Precincts 3 & 4 McCall Middle Sch.
Precincts 5 & 6 Vinson-Owen School
Precincts 7 & 8 Lynch School
Election Warrant is being mailed Friday June 12, 2020. Vote by mail can be requested until 12noon the day before the election however, please realize processing time and mailing time through the USPS. Any questions please email townclerk@winchester.us
Due to the State of Emergency voters may request a paper ballot known as Early Voting by Mail. Included in the notice mailing is an application for as Early Voting Ballot by Mail. You may return those applications and once we get closer to June 1st the staff in the Town Clerk’s Office will mail you the ballot. Please note, if you are NOT currently registered to vote you may register online up until midnight on June 10th at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/
The Secretary of the Commonwealth has approved that the same materials with the March 31st date will be used on the new date. When your ballot arrives in the mail if you want to vote by mail that ballot will say MARCH 31, 2020.
Q: What do I do if I already voted and returned my ballot?
A: Nothing the Town Clerk has received the voted ballot and it is being safely stored sealed in the vault until June 20th.
Q: What do I do if I received the ballot but did not cast my vote yet?
A: If you ordered your absentee ballot and have not voted you can do two things:
- Vote it and mail it back
- Not vote it and tear it up and throw it out. If you choose this option you can show up on June 20th to vote in person.
Q: What if I am NOT registered to vote but want to participate on June 20th?
A: You can log onto up until midnight on June 10th at https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ovr/ we will register you and send a confirmation letter in the mail informing you of the polling location.
Q: Can I order a ballot for a family member?
A: Yes, the family form is online www.winchester.us under Town Clerk Department Voting and Elections
Q: Will the State Primary and November General Elections still be held on the same dates; September 1, 2020 and November 3, 2020 respectfully?
A: As far as we are aware by the Secretary of the Commonwealth Elections Division these elections are still scheduled and no change has been made.
