Deciding how and when to claim Social Security is one of the most critical financial decisions a person will make in his or her lifetime. Did you know that over 70% of Americans do not leverage the rules to get the most retirement benefits available to them? By not understanding the many complex rules surrounding Social Security, you could leave thousands of dollars on the table. In this class, you will learn about strategies on how to get the most from your Social Security retirement benefits. We will help you determine when you should file for Social Security benefits, and what to consider when planning for spousal, survivor and divorced benefits. You will learn the financial impact of filing early or at full retirement age. We will also discuss buy-back strategies, tax-reduction strategies and coordination with other retirement plans. September 28, 2022, 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
    @
Winchester Public Library, Large Meeting Room

Winchester Cultural Council grants are available for any cultural project that offers a public benefit, including creation of visual art; musical or dance performances; poetry and literature; photography, film and video; historical documentation; educational programs in science and nature; and multicultural celebrations. The application deadline is October 17, 2022. Available funds are at an all-time high, as both the town and the state recognize the importance of cultural activity to our community after years of health-related restrictions and the ongoing disruptions of local construction. The Cultural Council encourages ambitious proposals to enrich the cultural life of Winchester and to bring people together both in the downtown area and throughout the town. Come to the Sept. 28 session and learn more about the grants program: resources, requirements, background, and the answers to any other questions you might have. You may also join via Zoom.
