The Community Calendar is to publicize events located in Winchester where the pubic is invited to attend. For profit businesses are allowed to post on this calendar up to 3 days per month. All submissions are subject to approval.

No holidays, events outside of Winchester or personal events are to be posted.

  1. Fakes, Frauds, and Forgers with John G. Kreifeldt

    Join Mr. Kreifeldt for a series of three talks to learn why 40% of the art in New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art is fake according to its former director, Thomas Hoving (1967–1977). Some of the reasons being, genuine works that become misattributed as something else; or works so extensively restored that little of the original remains; or works purposely made to deceive. John will examine a particularly notorious example of each of Hoving’s three types with lessons to be learned.

    The Griffin Museum is thrilled to partner with Maine Media Workshops to present the 2023 Arnold Newman Prize winner Craig Easton, and finalists Dylan Hausthor, Takako Kido and Nziyah Oyo Diallo. The Arnold Newman Prize for New Directions in Photographic Portraiture is a $20,000 prize awarded annually to a photographer whose work demonstrates a compelling new vision in photographic portraiture. The Prize is generously funded by the Arnold & Augusta Newman Foundation and proudly administered by Maine Media Workshops + College.
